How Long Does Fence Installation Take?

Most residential fences go in within a few days once materials are on site, but a few things change the timeline. Here is what to expect in the High Country.

The honest answer

Most residential fence installations take one to three days of on site work once the materials have arrived and the layout is set. A straightforward run on accessible ground can be a single day, while a larger project, a difficult mountain lot, or a fully custom fence can take longer. We give you a realistic timeline up front so you are never guessing.

The bigger part of the schedule is usually what happens before install day: the estimate, material selection and ordering, and any permits. We keep that moving and keep you updated.

What changes the timeline

Several things affect how long a fence takes: the total length, the terrain and how much rock is in the ground, the material you choose, the number of gates and corners, weather, and access to the fence line. Setting posts in solid rock on a steep slope simply takes more time than a flat, open yard.

Concrete set posts also need time to cure before the fence is fully loaded, which we build into the schedule so nothing shifts later.

The full process, start to finish

Here is the typical path: a free on site estimate, then material selection and a written quote, then ordering materials and pulling any permits, which can take a few weeks, and finally the installation itself over a few days. From your go ahead to a finished fence is often a matter of weeks, with the exact timing driven by materials and permits more than the build.

We handle the permits and the 811 utility locate as part of the process so you do not have to chase them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can you start my fence?

After your free estimate and material selection, most projects start within a few weeks. We give you a realistic date up front and keep you posted.

Does weather delay fence installation?

It can. Heavy rain, snow, or frozen ground can push a start, but we plan around it and communicate any change to your schedule.

Do concrete set posts need time to cure?

Yes. We allow the footings to cure properly before the fence is fully loaded so your fence stays true for years.
