A great deck turns a mountain lot into living space. We build full custom decks in composite, PVC, cedar, and pressure treated, replace tired deck boards and railing, and add covered and screened porches that let you enjoy the view in any weather.
We help you choose the right materials for our climate, from low maintenance composite to classic pressure treated and cedar, and we build every deck to code with footings set for real freeze and thaw.
Building a deck in the mountains is about more than the surface. The framing and footings underneath are where a deck lives or dies, and ours are set below the frost line so your deck rides through freeze and thaw without shifting. We handle the permit, build to local code, and finish with the railings, stairs, and lighting that make the space genuinely usable.
Stairs and railings are some of the most important and most overlooked parts of a deck: they carry the safety load, and they set the look. We build code compliant stairs and railing systems in wood, composite, aluminum, and cable. On multi level homes we can also add a metal sub roof beneath an upper deck so the space below stays dry and usable in any weather, one of the most requested upgrades from our deck clients.

Questions
Almost always yes for a new deck, and often for structural rebuilds. As a North Carolina licensed general contractor (GC #107410) we handle the permit, the inspections, and the code details ourselves, so your deck is legal, safe, and ready for resale scrutiny.
Decks more than 30 inches off the ground need a guardrail at least 36 inches high with balusters spaced so a 4 inch sphere cannot pass. We build every railing to code, and we can add wire infill so pets stay safely on the deck.
Yes, that is High Country deck building. Elevated and multi level decks on grade are our specialty: engineered footings, posts sized for the height, and the structure inspected as it goes up.
Often yes. Frozen ground slows footing work but does not stop it, and winter can mean faster scheduling. We will tell you honestly at the estimate whether your site works for a winter build.
Cost depends on size, height, material, and access. Composite costs more up front than wood but lasts longer with less upkeep. We give you a clear written quote after a free on site estimate.
Both work well in the mountains when built correctly. Composite is low maintenance and long lasting, wood is warmer and lower cost. We will walk you through the tradeoffs for your budget and look.
Yes. If your framing is sound we can replace deck boards and railing to make an old deck look and feel new for far less than a full rebuild.
Yes. Covered and screened porches let you enjoy the mountain air and the view in any weather, and they are some of our most requested deck projects.
It depends on size and complexity, but we give you a realistic schedule up front and keep you updated. Board and railing replacements are usually much faster than a full new build.
