About Chain Link Fence

Chain Link Fencing in the High Country

Chain link is the practical workhorse of fencing: durable, cost effective, and quick to install over long runs. When the priority is secure containment or a budget friendly perimeter rather than a decorative statement, chain link delivers. It is the go to choice for dog runs, kennels, ball fields, and commercial and industrial sites across the region.

It comes galvanized for the classic silver look or vinyl coated in black or green, which blends into a landscape far better and is a popular upgrade for residential backyards. Heights and mesh gauge can be specified for anything from a simple yard enclosure to a serious security perimeter.

Is Chain Link Right for You?

Best For

  • Dog runs, kennels, and animal containment
  • Budget friendly yard and perimeter fencing
  • Commercial, industrial, and sports sites
  • Security where appearance is secondary
  • Long runs installed efficiently

What to Consider

Getting Chain Link Right

Black or green vinyl coated chain link costs a little more than galvanized but looks much better in a residential setting and resists corrosion even longer. Privacy slats can be woven in for added screening where you want some seclusion without the cost of a solid fence.

For dogs, we can add a bottom rail or dig guard and choose a height that suits jumpers. We will spec the gauge and height to match how the fence will actually be used.

Questions

Chain Link Fence FAQs

How long does a chain link fence last?

Twenty years or more when properly installed. Galvanized and vinyl coated chain link resist rust, and with posts set below the frost line a chain link fence rides through mountain freeze and thaw without heaving.

Is black chain link worth the upgrade?

Usually, yes. Black vinyl coated chain link visually disappears into trees and shade, looks noticeably better than bare galvanized, and adds a layer of corrosion protection. It is the version we install most for homes, dog runs, and sport courts.

Do you install commercial chain link?

Yes. Security and perimeter fencing, dumpster and equipment enclosures, sport courts, and kennels for businesses, schools, and municipalities across Western North Carolina, with gates and access hardware to match.

Is chain link a good dog fence?

It is one of the most reliable and affordable dog fences: climb resistant, available at any height, and easy to pair with a bottom rail or dig guard for escape artists. For a more residential look, choose black coated chain link.

Is chain link the cheapest fence option?

It is usually among the most budget friendly, especially over longer runs, which is why it is popular for large yards, dog runs, and commercial sites. We can price it alongside other options at your estimate.

Can I get privacy with a chain link fence?

Privacy slats can be woven into chain link for partial screening at a lower cost than a solid privacy fence.
